Converse collaborated with legendary footwear designer, Tinker Hatfield, to create Star Series by unifying Converse’s heritage with Nike’s revolutionary footwear technology. Intended to function as an on and off-the-court, the minimalist basketball shoe is perfect for everyday use.
Our team was tasked to design a unique retail display at their iconic New York Converse store. We were inspired by the tech-forward and experimental nature of this collection and felt a workshop environment with a minimalist approach was the way to go. We crafted two large laboratory-inspired plinths—one plinth stands upright and leans on the existing framework, providing an elevated look for the displayed footwear. The second plinth lays lengthwise, serving as a try-on shoe bench and storage space that eliminates clutter. The white seen throughout the area takes on a fresh-clean-canvas approach, while the transparent orange acrylic draws from the orange three-quarter-inch band wrapped around the shoe’s upper.
